December 3, 2008-The 2008 Annual Meeting of the Hospital Library Services Program (HLSP) was held at the Farmingdale Public Library and welcomed medical, public, and academic librarians for a discussion on ergonomics and the workplace.
The program opened with a brief update from Arpita Bose, Outreach and Communications Coordinator for the NN/LM Middle Atlantic Region (MAR), who discussed the numerous funding opportunities available, training & educational opportunities-both online and in person, and the upcoming mid-contract review by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) of NN/LM MAR’s programs and services.
Following this, attendees were treated to an insightful and informative presentation by Cristiana Kahl Collins, PT, MA, NCS, Associate Director and the Coordinator of Post-Professional Program at the Division of Physical Therapy at Long Island University, who discussed Ergonomics for the Office. Of discussion was how to improve posture and the importance of a proper office set up. Attendees also examined commonly seen problems with office set ups and simple suggestions for quick and easy fixes were provided. Cristiana’s presentation is available to view below:
