Implementing a Content Management System

On August 16, Jonathan M. Smith, Electronic Services Librarian from the Catholic University of America Libraries, presented the “Implementing a Content Management System (CMS)” program at the Brentwood Public Library.

Mr. Smith described the entire process of implementing a CMS; from requirements gathering to post-launch evaluation. He compared commercial and open source solutions.  He also gave an overview of  several popular open source CMS, and discussed the technical requirements for hosting these systems. In addition, Mr. Smith covered project management principles in relate to the design and the evaluation of CMS development.

Over 20 participants have gained knowledge of the entire cycle of CMS implementation, common technical requirements of CMS, CMS administration, etc.
