Libraries and branding–what’s the relationship? Guest speaker Elisabeth Doucett, director of the Curtis Memorial Library and author of Creating Your Library Brand: Communicating Your Relevance and Value to Your Patrons, provided an interactive, in-dept, and informative presentation for librarians on October 6, 2010 at the Levittown Public Library covering this very question and more:
What is branding and how is it different or the same as marketing? Why on earth should a library be thinking about branding? How the heck do I do branding?
Using her business background as an experienced corporate business strategist, marketer, and problem-solver, Elisabeth provided an overview of branding, including what it is but more importantly what it is not and the components that make it up. Participants explored the use of taglines, logos, and creating a feeling and the importance of telling your story.
