On Friday, September 7, 2012 Kristina DeVoe, English & Communications Librarian at Temple University Libraries in Philadelphia, returned to Long Island for another training session on research guides entitled, “Geek the Guide: Innovative Ways to Use Research Guides.”
Kristina discussed open-source and commercial platforms, including LibGuides, for implementing research guides. Participants exchanged ideas with one another and as a group we developed a list of potential research guide topics including the following topics: career success, what your library card can do for you, local history/genealogy, ESL resources, and much more. Kristina also shared ideas on how your library might use research guides to highlight and, more importantly, deliver the collections, programs, and services you provide to your users.
