With less than 48 hours until this year’s LILRC 23rd Annual Conference on Libraries and the Future, here’s a sneak peek at our guest speaker for Thursday night.
Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages, Assembly District 22, will kick-off the event as our dinner speaker with her presentation, “From the State House to the Stacks- A dialogue on engaging State Government.”
She will discuss how libraries nationwide are straining from the effect of annual cuts in funding. According to the American Library Association, over the past four years more than half the states have reported a decrease in funding, with cumulative cuts averaging greater than 10 percent. As demand for essential services increases, library advocates and communities must look for ways to engage government and lawmakers.
