The Countdown to the LILRC 24th Annual Conference on Libraries and the Future Has Begun!

24th Annual Conference on Libraries and(3)

Mark your calendar as busy on November 5-6: they’re the official dates for the LILRC 24th Annual Conference on Libraries and the Future.  It may be 56 days away, but we’re already busy planning to make sure 2015 is the awesomest event yet!  Early Bird registration for the conference is now open, so reserve your seat now.

Why register early? Because our Early Bird registration comes with a special price: $135 for the full conference package of learning and networking on November 5-6.  That’s $30 off the regular rate, but only when you register by Tuesday, October 6.  Keep in mind, the full conference package can be split between two people! After that the price goes up, so don’t wait to take advantage.  In addition, first-time attendees will receive a 10% discount.

While you’re registering, be sure to take a peek at our conference speaker line-up.  This year’s conference theme, Changing Faces, Changing Spaces: Design Thinking, Demographics and Diversity unites speakers with a passion for sharing knowledge, expertise, and entrepreneurial ideas:

  • Andrew Hazen, CEO of LaunchPad.  Andrew is a successful entrepreneur with 20+ years’ experience in Domain Name Investing & Development, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Paid Search (PPC), eMail Marketing, Social Media Marketing and Custom Bobbleheads (yes, bobbleheads!).
  • Steven J. Bell, Associate University Librarian for Research and Instructional Services at Temple University, who writes and speaks about academic librarianship, learning technologies, library leadership, higher education, design thinking and user experience, will address design thinking.
  • Nathalia Rogers, Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of the American Communities Institute at Dowling College, has, for the past 20 years, researched the dynamics of the relationship between politics and markets in both emerging and advanced economies.  Dr. Rogers will address demographics.
  • Courtney L. Young, Head Librarian & Professor of Women’s Studies at Penn State Greater Allegheny and President 2014-2015, American Library Association, will speak about diversity.

We have many great things planned for this year’s conference and hope to see you there.  Hurry up and register now because we’d hate for you to miss out!
